IN THE BONES is a cinematic journey through Mississippi that provides a poetic and sometimes painful portrait of American culture through the ordinary lives of women and children. Set inside a legislative session in which equal pay for equal work and abortion rights are being decided, this lyrical film is a broad exploration of our culture, an unsettling portrayal of American life that lingers, shining a light on the weight women live under in this country and also the resilience expressed in everyday acts of survival.

In the midst of deep ideological divisions in our country, it is easy to forget how intrinsically connected we all are. Connections shaped by systemic structures, often patriarchal and racist in nature, that were developed hundreds of years ago. IN THE BONES, provides searing insight into the culture that overturned Roe v Wade.
